Have you ever been lost?
Found yourself standing somewhere, turning in circles, wondering which way to go? Sometimes it happens to me when I’m far from home. But I’ll admit, sometimes I’ve gotten lost in familiar places too. Like even at home.
Lost in thought,
lost in discouragement,
lost in doubt and insecurity,
lost in frustration and
I’ll go to bed one day, thinking that I’ve got it all together.
And get up the next wondering where I put it.
I’ll end up doing that 360 dance… It’s this turning around in a circle, trying to find my way; looking all around me for a clue. Something that will spark my attention. Something that will show me which way to go. It doesn’t matter if it’s a literal turn around, or just one inside my mind… either way, it simply makes me dizzy.
And lately it has really gotten me thinking… especially after that parking lot ordeal…
If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, I suggest you do before reading on. Otherwise, this may get just a bit confusing.
But I’ve come to a new understanding. And while sometimes getting lost can certainly be our own doing. I believe there are times, when God just watches and waits, knowing we are heading out in the wrong direction. Because He knows… that we are spinning in this 360 circle and we are only looking directly in front of us. What I mean by that is, horizontally. We are trying to find solutions to our problems… trying to find direction, on this earthy, horizontal plane. When all along, what He is desiring is for us to do, is to stand still, right there in that same spot of LOST.
I believe He wants us to PARK it,
right there in that spot,
and STOP looking AROUND.
Then simply WAIT on Him.
Because God has a place for us.
A reserved place in Heaven to sit with Him!
He has that assigned seat, right there in His presence.
We just need to know how to get there.
Not only after we die…
But right here, in the middle of LOST.
Right now, in the middle of confusion.
He no longer wants us to 360-it alone, looking around for earthy solutions.
For they will never really fulfill, never really satisfy, never really last…
they are all temporal, earthly, decaying answers.
Let us not forget to turn our hearts and minds heavenward to things that last. Through prayer and worship, placing our focus where Christ is… seated with Him in heavenly places. And there we can take these things to God… there, at His throne, in His very presence.
We can cry out to Him…
Lord, I’m in need of encouragement.
Lord, help me find my identity in You.
Lord, give me direction and purpose.
There we can turn to Him, saying…
Help me to be ever grateful to know know of this place,
to realize this magnificent mystery.
Thank You, Lord for revealing Yourself to me.
For when I find You here,
my life will not seem as futile, lost and empty…
not when I am seated with You.
